Britney Spears was taken from her home by ambulance early Thursday and escorted to the hospital by more than a dozen police officers in cars, on motorcycles and in helicopters. A Los Angeles police officer said Spears was being taken to the hospital to “get help.” Unidentified authorities said Spears was being placed on a “mental evaluation hold.” There were reports that her psychiatrist felt Spears, who is followed night and day by paparazzi, was a danger to herself because of reckless driving and a recent deterioration in her behavior. Spears was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where her mother, Lynne, was seen leaving its psychiatric hospital at about 5:30 a.m. The source close to Spears said she went willingly to the hospital and is “comfortable” about receiving medical care. “She’ll be in there for at least 72 hours getting evaluated. She might even stay longer,” the source claimed. “She’s more comfortable this time. She came into the waiting area, had a cigarette, made a joke about being there again. But who knows what will happen. All we can hope for is that she gets better.” A plan was reportedly in place in the event Spears needed medical attention.”Something like this has been in the works since the (last trip to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center). She has been seeing her psychiatrist every day,” the source said. “No one thought this would happen this soon, but it was clear if she stayed up for more than three days she’d have to get sent for help, since that could cause real damage. The last time she slept was Saturday.” The source also said that the arrangement to get Spears help worked out just as planned. “The motorcade and everything was planned, it was already in the works to have them block off the road and airspace. It worked out perfectly.”

Academy Award nominee for “Brokeback Mountain” Heath Ledger has died in New York.A New York Police Department spokesman, Paul Browne says Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence, in a possible drug-related death.”We are investigating the possibility of an overdose,” Browne said. “There were pills within the vicinity of the bed.”Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Soho apartment. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there and found him unconscious at approximately 3:30 PM ET today. After receiving no response after shaking him, they called they called 911.When paramedics responded, Ledger was in full cardiac arrest. They attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The 28-year-old actor has a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams, they separated in September, 2007. He was appearing as the ‘Joker’ in the upcoming Batman film “The Dark Knight,” a sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins.” He had starring roles in “A Knight’s Tale” and “The Patriot,” as well as the ground breaking ” Brokeback Mountain.” Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.

Suzanne Pleshette, the husky-voiced star best known for her role as Bob Newhart’s sardonic wife on television’s long-running “The Bob Newhart Show,” has died at age 70. Pleshette, whose career included roles in such films as Hitchcock’s “The Birds” and in Broadway plays including “The Miracle Worker,” died of respiratory failure at her Los Angeles home, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein. Pleshette underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006. “The Bob Newhart Show,” a hit throughout its six-year run, starred comedian Newhart as a Chicago psychiatrist surrounded by eccentric patients. Pleshette provided the voice of reason. Born Jan. 31, 1937, in New York City, Pleshette began her career as a stage actress after attending the city’s High School of the Performing Arts and studying at its Neighborhood Playhouse. She was often picked for roles because of her beauty and her throaty voice. She met her future husband, Tom Poston, when they appeared together in the 1959 Broadway comedy “The Golden Fleecing,” but didn’t marry him until more than 40 years later. Although the two had a brief romance, they went on to marry others. By 2000 both were widowed and they got back together, marrying the following year. Among her other Broadway roles was replacing Anne Bancroft in “The Miracle Worker,” the 1959 drama about Helen Keller, in New York and on the road. She had launched her film career with Jerry Lewis in 1958 in “The Geisha Boy.” She went on to appear in numerous television shows, including “Have Gun, Will Travel,” “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “Playhouse 90″ and “Naked City.” By the early 1960s, Pleshette attracted a teenage following with her youthful roles. She married fellow teen favorite Troy Donahue, her co-star in “Rome Adventure,” in 1964 but the marriage lasted less than a year. She was married to Texas oilman Tim Gallagher from 1968 until his death in 2000. Pleshette appeared in such films as Hitchcock’s “The Birds” and comedies “The Ugly Dachshund,” ‘’Blackbeard’s Ghost.” Over the years, she also had a busy career in TV movies, including playing the title role in 1990’s “Leona Helmsley, the Queen of Mean.” She also appeared in several episodes of the TV sitcoms “Will & Grace.” In a 1999 interview, Pleshette observed that being an actress was more important than being a star. “I’m an actress, and that’s why I’m still here,” she said. “Anybody who has the illusion that you can have a career as long as I have and be a star is kidding themselves.”

The 30 minute video shows the shaven headed pop star performing sex acts with 2 unidentified females and a male companion. During the video, the dazed Britney consumes alcohol and what appears to be cocaine and marijuana.The tape will undoubtedly cause more problems for her already troubled custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline.Spears had to temporarily surrender custody of her sons to Federline because she defied a court order.After-hour calls to attorneys representing Spears and Federline were not immediately returned.

Stevie Nicks has dismissed reports Lindsay Lohan is set to play her in a new movie, because there’s no such project. Lohan has been speaking about the role, which has left Nicks bemused, because she knows nothing about it. She says, “Lindsay Lohan thinks she is going to play me but what the hell movie does she think she’s talking about?”"There is no book, there is no screenplay, there is no movie. There is never going to be a movie made without me, because it’s never going to be the story of me.”"Even though a lot has been written about me, the fact is nobody actually has a clue to what my life was really like. So good luck, Lindsay.”

Richard Hatch, who won $1 million on ‘Survivor,’ says being in prison for failing to pay taxes on his TV prize and other income is difficult. Hatch, who became known as the “naked fat guy” for refusing to wear clothes for much of the show, was convicted last year. He was sentenced to 51 months in prison, and is at the Federal Correctional Institution in Morgantown, W.Va., a minimum security facility.”Obviously, this is better than the county lockup,” Hatch says. “There’s no fence here. But people think I’ve come to a country club. It’s not. This is prison. Just because it’s got a beautiful view of the countryside doesn’t make it a resort. And it’s horrendous because I’m an innocent man in jail.” Following his conviction, Hatch says he spent “six horrendous months” at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility in Plymouth, Mass. His lawyer, Michael Minns, has said Hatch deserves a new trial because a judge improperly kept him from testifying about claims of cheating on the show.”I don’t apologize for anything,” says Hatch, who said he is looking forward to returning to his home and family in Rhode Island. “I didn’t do anything wrong.” Hatch says he is “working on a book that I should have no trouble getting published. It begins with my auditioning for ‘Survivor’ and will end with my time in prison.”

Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton will co-star in the latest installment of the 007 franchise opposite Daniel Craig, Columbia Pictures has announced.Craig made his debut as Bond in 2006’s “Casino Royale,” which co-starred French actress Eva Green as Vesper Lynd, an enigmatic spy who stole Bond’s heart — and broke it, too.For Craig’s second appearance, Kurylenko, a Ukrainian model-turned-actress, “will play the dangerously alluring Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal,” the studio says.Kurylenko’s screen credits include “Hitman” and “Paris, je t’aime.”Arterton will portray MI6 Agent Fields. She appears in the upcoming “RocknRolla,” directed by Guy Ritchie.Columbia spokesman Steve Elzer had no details Tuesday on Arterton’s character.Marc Forster is directing the film, which has the working title, “Bond 22.” It is slated for release November 7.

An employment tribunal ruled that Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, discriminated against their chef by firing her after she became pregnant. The couple, who face having to make a substantial compensation payment, said they were “devastated” by the ruling. The level of compensation will be decided at a hearing. Chef Jane Martin said she had worked for Sting and Styler for eight years, cooking meals for them and guests at various locations. She said Styler grew unhappy after she became pregnant in 2005, making her work long hours and growing angry when she took time off work because of illness.Martin claimed that Styler created a “climate of fear” in which she was forced to work 14-hour days during some of the roughest points of her pregnancy. Martin, who accused Styler of having a “grandiose ego,” was fired under disputed circumstances in April 2006. In its ruling, the panel said Martin had been unlawfully dismissed and was a victim of sexual discrimination. The judgment said that although Styler “had tried to distance herself from various unlawful acts and have them carried out by others on her behalf, when the evidence is looked at holistically, her involvement is clear. She is without doubt the driving force manipulating others to perform her dirty work.”

Carmen Electra is upset and dissapointed she hasn’t been asked to star in the forthcoming ‘Baywatch’ movie. Electra found fame starring as lifeguard Lani McKenzie on the drama series between 1997 and 1998, but, despite appearing in 2003’s reunion ‘Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding,’ she hasn’t been invited to join the new feature-length film’s cast. She says, “I’m out. I’ve only heard about it through the press and nobody has contacted me to be in the film. I really enjoyed the reunion show we did though, it was fun to meet all the team again.”

A lawsuit has been filed by the husband of the woman killed in a car crash involving Brandy Norwood. It’s the second lawsuit she is facing regarding the accident. In the documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Marquane Hdidou claims that Brandy and another motorist named Mallory Ham were “recklessly and carelessly traveling too fast for conditions” and “following too closely” on the 405 Freeway, which caused the collision that killed his wife, Awatef Aboudihaj. As a result of his wife’s death, Hdidou claims in the lawsuit that he has, “forever been deprived the support and maintenance, services, guidance, companionship, comfort, affection, solace, moral support, society, care, love, consortium and other benefits” from his wife. Hdidou is suing for an undisclosed amount of financial relief to cover medical and funeral expenses, as well as legal costs and other damages. Brandy is also facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by the victim’s parents.

Keira Knightley has settled a lawsuit against a British tabloid for $6,000 in damages, after the newspaper accused her of denying she had an eating disorder. The Daily Mail published a photograph of Knightly on the beach with an accompanying article commenting on her slender figure. Knightley began legal action against the newspaper claiming the article was libelous because it implied she had been dishonest about suffering from anorexia.She has frequently been forced to deny she has an eating disorder, and recently admitted the accusations have left her “completely devastated.” In the suit, Knightley also challenged the positioning of the story, published beside an article about a girl who died from anorexia, because it suggested she was responsible for the teen’s death by setting a bad example. Following the ruling, Knightly said she would donate the money to charity.

Pamela Anderson and her husband Rick Salomon were reportedly divorcing after just two months of marriage, but the couple has reconciled. Anderson filed legal papers for the dissolution of her marriage citing irreconcilable differences. A source close to the couple said they had a huge fight, but have now made up and everything is fine. Anderson and her longtime friend Salomon married in Las Vegas on October 6. Anderson has previously been married to rockers Tommy Lee and Kid Rock, while Salomon’s ex-wives are Elizabeth Daily and Shannen Doherty.

Jessica Alba has revealed that she’s pregnant, and that the father is her longtime boyfriend, Cash Warren. The couple revealed the pregnancy news, according to a report in ‘People.’”I can confirm that Jessica and Cash are expecting a baby in late spring/early summer,” Jessica’s reprasentative said. The couple has been dating since 2004 after they met on the set of “The Fantastic Four.”Alba is currently starring in the thriller “Awake,” and can be seen in the upcoming films “The Eye” and “The Love Guru.” She was reportedly also in talks recently to make her Broadway debut in the revival of “Speed-the-Plow.”

Britney Spears is threatening to release video footage of one-time friend Paris Hilton in a lesbian romp with a mutual pal if she doesn’t start treating her better. A source claims a letter Spears’ friends have sent to Hilton demands she stop being rude to Britney and members of her entourage. They reportedly threatened to leak the footage, which shows Hilton in a compromising position with another woman, unless her attitude changes. A source says, “The letter warns Paris that if she continues being rude to people, the footage will be leaked online.” Reportedly the former friends fell out at Spears’ 26th birthday parties in Hollywood last weekend.A source close to Hilton says, “It’s obvious Britney and her bratty pals are being silly. Paris laughed when she got the letter and said it was c**p.” Hilton was the star of sex tape ‘1 Night In Paris’, which was shot by her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon, Pamela Anderson’s new husband.

Ike Turner, whose role as one of rock’s icons was overshadowed by his ogrelike image as the man who brutally abused former wife and icon Tina Turner, died at his home in suburban San Diego. He was 76.”He did pass away this morning” at his home in San Marcos, in northern San Diego County, said Scott M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner’s musical career. There was no immediate word on the cause of death, but there are reports that according to sources close to his family, he may have died in his sleep. Turner managed to rehabilitate his image somewhat in his later years, touring around the globe with his band the Kings of Rhythm and drawing critical acclaim for his work. He won a Grammy in 2007 in the traditional blues album category for “Risin’ With the Blues.” But his image is forever identified as the drug-addicted, wife-abusing husband of Tina Turner in her autobiography.

The father of the baby is allegedly music producer JR Rotem, who apparently confirmed the news by saying: “It’s true.” Spears emailed a copy of her ultrasound scan to friends, confiding that she was just over four weeks pregnant. Spears, who lost physical custody of her two young boys to ex-husband Kevin Federline, has reportedly been having an on-off relationship with Rotem since her split from Federline last year.Spears has also been rumored to be adopting 6-year-old Chinese twins after she lost custody of her sons. She was first linked to Jonathan Rotem soon after her split from Federline last year. “Britney’s not looking for another husband,” claims an insider. “But she does like having a man in her life.”
