Rod Stewart will perform a private concert for one of America’s richest men next month, after accepting a $1 million invitation to play at Wall Street tycoon, Stephen A. Schwarzmann’s 60th birthday party. Stewart is reported to have agreed to perform with his band at the private event in New York City on February 13, with some of the wealthiest people in the US in attendance. Schwarzmann’s wife, Christine, is believed to have approached Stewart with the lucrative request. The party will be held at Manhattan’s historic Park Avenue Armory. Schwarzmann, the CEO and co-founder of the Blackstone private equity and management company, is ranked by Forbes magazine as the 73rd richest person in America, with a personal fortune of $3.5 billion. Stewart, who is currently touring the US, is also due to play at New York’s Madison Square Garden the following evening.

Pop star Mariah Carey will appear on the March cover of Playboy in a skimpy flesh-colored bathing suit.Carey posed for the magazine to accompany a feature article on the “Sexiest Comeback” for which she provides answers to 20 “revealing” questions. Black civil rights leaders in Los Angeles claim the California Highway Patrol has made Brandy “a political trophy.” The Los Angeles City Attorney is deciding whether to file misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges against Brandy, whose Land Rover slammed into a Toyota on the 405 Freeway killing the driver. Najee Ali, leader of Project Islamic HOPE, said the CHP’s recommendation to file charges against Brandy “is unfairly targeting her for prosecution because of her celebrity.” Ali said he is organizing an e-mail campaign in the African American community to put pressure on City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo to reject the case. Delgadillo says “We will treat this case like every other case and treat it very seriously because someone died.”The parents of the woman killed in the freeway crash don’t believe Brandy is being targeted unfairly, they are suing her for $50 million. The wrongful-death suit claims Brandy was driving recklessly when her Land Rover struck the back of the Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj.”The accident was a terrible tragedy, and Brandy’s heart goes out to Awatef Aboudihaj’s family,” spokesman Allan Mayer said in a statement. “But for legal reasons we cannot comment on this lawsuit.”

The dancers working on Beyonce’s latest videos are being low-balled on their salaries in order to make the videos on the cheap, a source claims. Sources say that Beyonce is shooting several music videos in Los Angeles this week, which she may be financing, not her label. Sources also say Beyonce’s choreographer, Frank Gatson, has refused to work with any of the dancers’ agents on this job. By eliminating the middleman and dealing directly with the dancers, Beyonce can pay them below standard wages. Industry contacts say this practice is highly irregular for an artist of Beyonce’s stature, and it undermines the dance industry as a whole. Sources learned that in order to maintain good working relationships, the production company for the project, RSA Films, has recently agreed to pay agency fees for some of the dancers. Usually, a dancer cast in a video can earn around $3000 for two rehearsal days and two shoot-days of work. Without agents fighting for their rights, the dancers on Beyonce’s latest videos will earn less. While some dancers have boycotted the job, others, willing to go around their agents, have been flown to Los Angeles and put up at hotels to work for the lower rates, just to say they danced for a megastar like Beyonce. Since music videos are not covered under union rules, Beyonce is not violating regulations, but she is not in sync with Dancers’ Alliance, an organization created by dancers to standardize non-union work.

Sources have confirmed that the family of the woman killed in a car crash involving Brandy has just filed suit against her for wrongful death. The parents of Awatef Aboudihaj, killed in a car crash involving Brandy are suing the singer for $50 million. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Lawyers for the family of the deceased claim, “Defendant Brandy Norwood was driving recklessly in the freeway when her car collided with Awatif Aboudihaj’s car.” The $50 million lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles City Attorney is considering the CHP’s recommendation to criminally charge Brandy with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
Rock band ‘The Police’ have confirmed they will open the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles fueling speculation they are planning a reunion tour.The group have so far refused to confirm rumors they are reforming to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their massive selling song ‘Roxanne.’ The Recording Academy spokesperson says, “The Police join a stellar list of past Grammy Awards opening acts, which includes reunions and once-in-a-lifetime performances.” The 1980s supergroup, featuring Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, broke up in 1984 but reformed briefly in 2003 to celebrate their inclusion into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Jennifer Lopez’s first husband, Ojani Noa, was ordered to enter arbitration with her over his plans for a tell-all book about their brief marriage. Lopez filed a Superior Court breach of contract suit nine months ago and got a restraining order barring Noa from publishing intimate details of their sex life. She also asked for arbitration. Noa’s ghostwritten book alleges Lopez had multiple affairs, including one with her third and current husband Marc Anthony, court documents revealed.”This is about my life, coming here from Cuba and falling in love with Jennifer,” Noa claims. Superior Court Judge Victor H. Person agreed with Lopez’s lawyer, Paul N. Sorrell, that Noa was bound to arbitration under terms of an October 2005 settlement of another lawsuit. Noa, who showed up in court again without a lawyer, objected to the arbitration order, saying he wanted the benefit of a public trial of the case.”Basically, they were trying to damage my name and my career, now they want to go private in arbitration,” Noa told the judge.”Lopez has made every effort to keep the details of the dispute private, but had to go public with her lawsuit in order to get a preliminary injunction against Noa,” Sorrell said. Lopez’s damages could be in excess of $10 million if the book is published, the attorney said. In the previous lawsuit, Noa sued Lopez for breach-of-contract, alleging she lured him into taking a managerial job in 2002 at her Pasadena restaurant, then fired him five months later. Lopez married Noa in February 1997 after meeting him in a Miami restaurant. They divorced 11 months later.

Paris Hilton filed a federal lawsuit seeking to shut down a web site that displays personal photos, videos, diaries, and other belongings once kept at a storage facility. The web site was launched last week claiming the items were auctioned off after Hilton neglected to pay the Los Angeles-area storage facility. It also promises visitors who pay a fee, access to Hilton’s passport, medical records and other legal documents. In her lawsuit, Hilton said she put her possessions in storage two years ago when she and her sister, Nicky, moved out of a house that had been burglarized.Hilton said a moving company was supposed to pay the storage fees and was “shocked and surprised” to learn her belongings were sold at a public auction.”I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters’ private personal belongings for commercial gain,” Hilton said in a declaration supporting the lawsuit, adding she was concerned the information could be used for identity theft or harassment. The lawsuit alleges defendants Nabil and Nabila Haniss paid $2,775 for the contents of the storage unit and later sold the items for $10 million to entrepreneur Bardia Persa, who created the site. Hilton’s publicist Elliot Mintz said that she would like the site shut down and “would like all of these items returned to her.”
